to the presence of three fingers on each foot, while the ostrich only has two. There is sexual dimorphism, but not very accentuated.

The rhea is incapable of flying, however his whole body is adapted to run at great speed if he is in danger, he is clumsy to jump but he is a good swimmer if he needs to cross any watercourse. They are gregarious animals, during the autumn and winter they form large groups from 20 to 30 individuals, although up to 50 individuals have been visualized together; these groups are disintegrating in less numerous groups at the entrance of the breeding season, because the males begin to dispute each other for the right of mating. These animals are clearly polygamous, practicing polygyny and polyandry. In reproductive seasons we found groups of a male with several females and non-reproductive groups formed by juveniles and males that could not obtain females to mate. They are great runners and one of the fastest animals in the world, being able to arrive in straight lines exceeding 80 kilometers per hour.
